Case Study: Ecosave Energy Savings Project – Charles Sturt University

Charles Sturt University realises economic value in environmental changes

Charles Sturt University is a leading non-metropolitan University with a campus in Bathurst, Wagga Wagga, Albury-Wodonga, Orange and Dubbo, as well as specialist centres in half a dozen additional locations.

Charles Sturt University (CSU) recognised a need to significantly reduce the energy usage and costs especially at their two largest campuses in Bathurst and Wagga Wagga. Through its ability to provide unique and guaranteed solutions to provide CSU with the reductions they require, Ecosave won a bid to provide an energy saving project to CSU at their Bathurst campus. As a result of the success of this project Ecosave was engaged to implement solutions to over 50 buildings at the Bathurst and Wagga Wagga campuses.

Ecosave further assisted the University in funding this project by submitting a grant application on their behalf through the NSW Government’s Public Facilities Fund thus increasing the viability of this project.

The Solutions that have been implemented over the Charles Sturt University are:

  • Lighting refurbishments and replacements
  • Occupancy sensors, daylight harvesting
  • Voltage Reduction Units
  • Power Factor Correction
  • Appliance controls
  • Water amenities flow controls, aerators and cistern modifiers

“Ecosave have completed 3 rounds of energy conservation projects for Charles Sturt University at our campuses in Wagga Wagga and Bathurst covering more than 50 buildings. The total value of these projects was around $1M with savings achieved annually of $191,257 and 929 tonnes of CO2
